As the Spaniards came and conquered the Philippines particularly in the Ilocos Region, they have left their culture specially the culture of food and cooking. they introduced to us Empanada, which also embodies the city of Batac. this is a turnover pastry that contains shredded papaya, mung beans, cabbage, egg and longganisa.
The Pinais or the outer cover is orange and crisp, the fillings' combination suits the crispiness of the pinais and supplements each other creating a very delicious food, and the pride of the Bataceneos.
